What is the difference between a LCD-HDTV with 720p and 1080p?

What is the difference between a Vizio LCD-HDTV with 720p and 1080p? I’m considering buying the 32 in with the 720p.

720p is pretty good. 1080p is just higher quality, but at the moment i don’t think anything broadcasts in that unless you have a blueray player or a ps3. I can’t remember but xbox 360 might play 1080p with hdmi cables.
1080p means higher resolution, more clarity, better depth/sharpness.
In comparison, if you have ever seen a “dvdrip” on your PC, it is of lesser quality than 720. True 1080 can be achieved using Blu-Ray. I believe HD cable doesnt provide true 1080.
1080p is a higher definition, but they are both progressive scan, and at this point there aren’t many things that use full 1080p definition anyway. I can almost promise you won’t be able to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p, you’ll just end up paying more money for the 1080.
Hi there. I just researched on buying a new plasma or LCD tv and I can share with you that 720p is the maximum resolution that most cable companies can produce, which is a very nice picture, but 1080p is the top resolution you will find to be from your Blu-ray movies and video games these days.
I chose a tv Panasonic PZ800 for the price, quality, and it’s 1080p resolution for watching blu-ray movies. 720p will look really nice on smaller tv screens, 1080p helps the larger screens look sharper for picture clarity. I hope this helps.

dont buy 32inch 720p.vizio is a great brand especially for their prices.
1080p is the way to go,dont waste money on 720p or 1080i.
p is for progressive (makes images look smoother)
1080p is the resolution ,1080 gives you a more detailed video.
also when shopping around if your serious about hdtvs try to get a 1080p with 120hz and not 60hz.
this detemines how clear moving images look,120hz is the refresh rate.

The numbers refer to the number of lines displayed from the top to the bottom of the screen.
The “P” refers to progressive scan which means those 720 or 1080 lines refresh one at a time from top to bottom and is usually the less desirable effect. “I” means interlaced which means everyone other line is refreshed at the same time resulting in a cleaner picture.
As already mentioned not many things are 1080 yet but will be nice to have when they are released. At this point 1080 is available in Blue ray movies, PS3 and high end camcorders.
You’d have to sit 6 feet or less from your 32″ TV to see the difference between 720 and 1080 in terms of resolution. See the following chart…
